How To Be a Volunteer

  • Fill out the Contact form with the appropriate and correct information
  • Prepare for a response in 1-2 weeks asking for more info or to schedule an interview.
  • If accepted, you will provide available schedule and we will have tasks available determined by your interests and desires
  • Once completed, you will be eligible for a LOR and a subsequent Certificate of Appreciation provided by our Board of Directors. We will also recognize you at our Annual Board Meeting.

Am I eligible for a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) after the program?

Yes! After you successfully complete the program you will be eligible for a Letter of Recommendation. Volunteering with our organization can help build your resume, teach you new skills, and expand your professional and personal network.

What kinds of things would I do as a volunteer?

CTSN’s volunteer opportunities are as diverse as the students we serve. Volunteers can work in various sectors within our organization, including IT, graphic design, marketing, fundraising, or finance.

Can I volunteer from home?

As of now, all volunteers will be working from home. Information and tasks will be provided through electronic means.

Who can become a volunteer?

We welcome anyone who wants to volunteer with California Transfer Support Network to fill out an application form.

We do not discriminate against individuals based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or socio-economic status. We strive to support volunteers as best we can and to place them in roles that match their abilities.

I don’t see any current volunteer opportunities that I want to do.

No problem. Select “Other” as your interest, and we will inquire about your interests during the interview process. If you don’t see a current volunteer opportunity that speaks to you, we still encourage you to apply.

What is the time commitment for volunteering?

This is really up to you. In general, we ask our volunteers to commit to at least 6-8 hours per month, with a minimum commitment of 30 hours.

Some roles are short term and others might need a six month commitment or longer. You can volunteer at any time of the week, day or night. You can volunteer at evenings and weekends too, again depending on what you want to do.
